Rubber Expansion Joints
KDF High-Pressure Double Sphere Rubber Expansion Joint
The KDF High-Pressure Double Sphere Rubber Expansion Joint is a large-diameter flexible connector for piping systems that require high-pressure engineering together with greater axial, lateral and angular movement capacity. Mingchao’s catalog documents DN500–DN1200 configurations, while size, face-to-face length, flange drilling, elastomer, restraint hardware and other dimensions can be manufactured to approved customer or project drawings. Final pressure capability is confirmed against the complete operating condition.

Project Configuration
Mingchao can customize the product configuration based on the technical information, operating conditions and dimensional data you provide. Final configuration can be reviewed and manufactured to the approved project drawing.
KDF High-Pressure Double Sphere Rubber Expansion Joint — Product Overview
The KDF High-Pressure Double Sphere Rubber Expansion Joint is a large-diameter flexible piping connection designed for applications where pressure, vibration isolation and movement capability must be evaluated together. Mingchao’s catalog documents DN500–DN1200 double-sphere configurations with axial, lateral and angular movement data, while non-standard dimensional and connection requirements can be manufactured from approved project drawings.
R06 is a high-pressure, large-bore engineering selection rather than a generic double-sphere joint. Final suitability depends on the complete operating and restraint condition.
Why Double Sphere for High-Pressure & High-Movement Service
A double-sphere configuration provides two flexible spherical sections, giving the piping designer greater movement potential than a comparable single-sphere arrangement while maintaining vibration-isolation function. For high-pressure service, however, movement cannot be evaluated independently: pressure, temperature, size, reinforcement, flange connection and restraint conditions must be reviewed together.
Double sphere does not establish a fixed multiplier. Actual allowable movement depends on DN, length, pressure, temperature, elastomer, reinforcement, installation, combined movement and the piping layout.
Large-Diameter KDF Construction — What the Catalog Shows
The Page 06 KDF configuration shows a double-sphere elastomeric body between two flanged ends, with external anti-pull-off hardware visible on the catalog product. The section drawing identifies the two flexible spherical regions and face-to-face length L.
The rubber body is reinforced, but the catalog does not establish a universal reinforcement-layer material, count or cord angle. Those construction details require confirmation for the selected project configuration.

Pressure, Temperature, Size & Movement Must Be Selected Together
Flange pressure class does not by itself define the allowable working pressure of the rubber element or complete expansion joint. Large diameter, higher temperature, combined movement, surge pressure and restraint conditions can materially affect the permissible operating envelope. Final KDF pressure capability is confirmed against the approved operating condition and drawing.
There is no single universal maximum working pressure for every R06 size and temperature. Selection must consider DN, temperature, elastomer, reinforcement, length, movement, pressure profile, surge, vacuum, restraint and piping-system design together.

The matrix retains essential engineering fields even where the catalog provides no numeric value. Such entries remain project-specific, drawing-based, calculation-on-request or factory-confirmation items; no competitor values are imported.
Axial Extension, Compression, Lateral & Angular Movement
Axial extension is an increase in face-to-face length. Axial compression is a reduction in that length. Lateral displacement offsets the connected pipe axes, while angular deflection changes their relative angle.
The catalog values are individual reference movements. They are not presented as simultaneously additive combined movement capacity unless the approved engineering review establishes the allowable combined condition.
Flange Standards, Pressure Classes & Custom Drilling
Flange pressure class and rubber-joint working pressure are different engineering parameters. GB, HG, ANSI/ASME, DIN, EN, BS, JIS or customer-drawing drilling can be reviewed when the exact flange geometry is provided. Availability does not constitute certification to each standard.
PN25 or ASME Class 300 flange configurations can be reviewed where required by the project. The flange designation must not be interpreted as the allowable continuous working pressure of the rubber element or complete expansion joint without engineering confirmation.
GB/T 9115.1-2000 appears only as a legacy Mingchao catalog flange reference. Current project flange requirements follow the approved drawing and specification.
Elastomer & Material Selection for Water, Oil, Seawater & Process Service
| Elastomer | Typical Service Consideration | Selection Note |
|---|---|---|
| NR | General water, vibration and mild abrasive service | Not universal for oil, elevated temperature or aggressive chemicals |
| EPDM | Water, hot water, wastewater, HVAC and outdoor service | Oil and fuel compatibility must be confirmed |
| CR / Neoprene | Seawater, outdoor and general industrial conditions | Exact chemical compatibility remains project-specific |
| IIR | Low-permeability applications identified by the catalog material option | Medium, pressure and temperature require confirmation |
| NBR | Oil, diesel, lubricating oil and oily media | Temperature, ozone and exact fluid must be confirmed |
| FKM / Viton | Demanding oil, chemical or elevated-temperature conditions | Exact medium, concentration, temperature and pressure must be confirmed |
Material compatibility must be confirmed against the actual medium, concentration, operating temperature and pressure. No drinking-water, WRAS, NSF, ACS, FDA or food-grade approval is claimed.
Custom Sizes, Lengths, Flanges & Drawing-Based Fabrication
Mingchao supports drawing-based custom fabrication for nominal size, face-to-face length, flange drilling, bolt pattern, materials, coating, elastomer and restraint details. Sizes or dimensions outside the catalog table can be reviewed and manufactured to the approved customer or project drawing, subject to engineering and manufacturability review.
Custom PCD, flange dimensions, connection details and customer CAD/PDF workflows are available. Custom geometry does not establish an unrestricted pressure, temperature, size or movement envelope.
Pressure Thrust, Anchors, Supports & Anti-Pull-Off / Control Rods
Internal pressure generates axial pressure thrust that must be resisted by the piping restraint system. Large-diameter KDF joints therefore require the project engineer to review anchors, guides, fixed supports and any anti-pull-off or control-rod arrangement as part of the complete piping design.
The Page 06 catalog notes that suspended water-service products above DN200 require fixed pipe support or an anti-pull-off device. Every catalog R06 size is above DN200. Optional control rods or anti-pull-off devices can be reviewed according to the piping layout and approved design; no rod load, thrust force or anchor spacing is inferred.

Large-Bore Applications — Pumps, HVAC, Water & Industrial Piping
Engineering contexts include pump-station piping, pressurized water systems, large-diameter water transmission, HVAC and district-cooling systems, industrial utilities, process-water and treatment systems, equipment vibration isolation, replacement projects, and large-bore installations requiring custom flange or face-to-face geometry.
Actual suitability depends on pressure, temperature, medium, movement, support and restraint, and the approved design. These contexts are not blanket fire-protection, potable-water, oil or chemical approvals.

R06 High-Pressure Double Sphere vs. R05 High-Pressure Single Sphere
The R05 KDF High-Pressure Single Sphere Rubber Expansion Joint uses one spherical flexible section. R06 uses two spherical sections and owns the high-pressure double-sphere, large-diameter selection intent.
R06 catalog data cover DN500–DN1200. Selection is not based on an assumed pressure percentage, service-life increase or fixed movement multiplier; the project pressure, movement, length and restraint requirements decide the appropriate configuration.
R06 vs. KST Standard Double Sphere — Selection Boundary
The KST Double Sphere Rubber Expansion Joint owns the general double-sphere product intent. R06 is differentiated by high-pressure engineering review, its large-bore DN500–DN1200 catalog range, pressure-profile requirements and explicit restraint awareness.
No unsupported numeric pressure or movement advantage is claimed. The required operating condition and approved drawing determine whether KST or KDF is appropriate.
