Mingchao’s 04FS02 flexible sealed wall sleeve is a legacy cast-in pipe-penetration configuration using a flanged sleeve, sealing ring and gland assembly around the carrier pipe. The original 04FS02 atlas was superseded by current 07FS02 civil-defense installation guidance, so new projects should be checked against the current project standard and approved drawing. Legacy DN50–DN200 reference dimensions are provided for replacement and identification, while Mingchao can manufacture custom dimensions, materials, coatings and sealing arrangements to approved project drawings.

04FS02 Flexible Sealed Wall Sleeve — Legacy Configuration Overview

The W03 product is Mingchao’s legacy 04FS02 flexible sealed wall-sleeve configuration for pipe penetrations through concrete walls.

Its construction combines a flanged sleeve with a sealing ring and flange gland around the carrier pipe. The source drawing also shows the cast-in wall interface and supporting structural components used by the legacy configuration.

W03 is retained because existing installations, replacement projects and legacy specifications can still require 04FS02 dimensions or geometry. It should not be presented as the current civil-defense standard for new projects.

For new work, provide the current project requirement, current 07FS02 type where applicable, and the approved penetration drawing. Mingchao can manufacture project-specific dimensions and construction to the approved design.

Important Standards Notice — 04FS02 Is Legacy; 07FS02 Is Current

The 04FS02 flexible sealed sleeve shown in Mingchao’s legacy product source belongs to the FS01–02 (2004 combined volume) civil-defense water-supply and drainage design atlas.

That 2004 combined atlas was abolished on 2007-05-01 (1 May 2007). The current national building standard design atlas for civil-defense basement water-supply and drainage installation is 07FS02.

This distinction matters because the current 07FS02 system does not simply rename the old 04FS02 flexible sleeve. Current protective sealed-sleeve configurations must be selected from the actual project standard and approved drawing.

Mingchao can reproduce legacy 04FS02 configurations for replacement or existing-project requirements and can manufacture custom wall-penetration sleeves to current approved drawings. A legacy W03 product must not be relabeled as a current 07FS02 type without engineering confirmation.

How the Flange, Sealing Ring & Gland Assembly Works

The legacy W03 assembly uses a flanged steel sleeve cast through the wall. Around the passing carrier pipe, a sealing ring is compressed by the flange-gland assembly to close the annular interface.

The Mingchao p37 source also shows a baffle or plate within the penetration assembly. These features distinguish W03 from a plain open pipe sleeve.

The embedded sleeve provides the wall-penetration structure, while the sealing-ring and gland system acts at the carrier-pipe interface.

Exact sealing material, compression requirement, flange construction, coating and project tightness requirement must be confirmed for the actual order rather than assumed from the historical material schedule.

What “Flexible Sealed” Means — and What It Does Not Guarantee

The word “flexible” in the legacy product name describes the sealing arrangement at the carrier-pipe penetration. It does not make W03 a piping expansion joint or a universal flexible connector.

Do not rely on the sleeve to absorb piping thermal expansion, equipment movement or unsupported pipe weight.

The actual pipe should be independently aligned and supported. Where the connected pipeline requires vibration isolation or movement compensation, the appropriate piping connector should be engineered outside the wall penetration.

W03 must also not be assumed to have a universal gas-tightness, water-pressure, blast or protective rating. Any such performance requirement must be defined by the current project standard and verified for the supplied configuration.

International Dimension Guide & Custom Fabrication

International wall-sleeve and pipe-penetration projects are often specified with dimensional descriptions rather than only legacy drawing symbols.

For export quotations, the most useful dimensional inputs are:

  • Carrier Pipe OD — the actual outside diameter of the pipe passing through the sleeve.
  • Sleeve ID / Sleeve OD — the internal and external diameter required for the wall sleeve.
  • Flange or Gland OD — the outside diameter of the compression or connection flange where applicable.
  • Bolt Circle / PCD — the pitch-circle diameter for the gland or flange bolts.
  • Bolt Pattern / Drilling — bolt quantity, thread or hole diameter, and drilling arrangement.
  • Wall Thickness / Sleeve Length — the actual concrete wall thickness and required overall sleeve length.
  • Seal Width / Annular Gap — the radial clearance available between the carrier pipe and sleeve for the selected sealing system.
  • Water-Stop / Wing-Ring Position — diameter and position of the embedded water-stop feature when required by the approved project design.

These descriptions follow common international wall-penetration specification practice. They do not replace the Mingchao drawing and do not import competitor dimensions.

Custom Dimensions Available

All dimensions can be customized to the approved project drawing. Mingchao can customize carrier-pipe fit, sleeve diameter and length, wall-thickness interface, flange/gland dimensions, bolt circle and drilling, sealing geometry, water-stop/wing-ring position, material and coating.

For legacy 04FS02 replacement, send the existing drawing or measured penetration dimensions. For new civil-defense projects, provide the current 07FS02 type or the approved project drawing for engineering review.

Final manufacturability and dimensional tolerances are confirmed during quotation and drawing approval.

When to Use a Legacy 04FS02 Replacement vs. a Current 07FS02 Design

Use the W03 legacy reference when an existing installation, maintenance replacement, historical project document or customer drawing explicitly requires the 04FS02 flexible sealed-sleeve configuration.

For a new civil-defense project, do not choose W03 only because the DN matches the old table.

The current project should be checked against 07FS02 and the applicable design documentation. Current 07FS02 protective sealed sleeves use a different current type system, and a legacy 04FS02 flexible sleeve should not be mapped to a new type by assumption.

Mingchao can manufacture either a legacy replacement or a project-specific current configuration once the approved drawing and dimensional requirements are provided.

Materials, Coatings & Sealing System — Project-Specific

The legacy p37 material schedule reflects the historical source configuration. It should not be treated as a universal 2026 Mingchao material specification.

For current production, the sleeve body, flange/gland, bolts, sealing element, water-stop components, coating and corrosion-protection system should be specified against the actual project environment and approved drawing.

Mingchao accepts project-specific material and coating requirements. The final material list should be confirmed on the quotation or approved manufacturing drawing.

Legacy filler, sealant, bolt-standard, welding-electrode and coating references are not automatically reproduced as current international project requirements.

Applications in Underground & Protective Structures

W03 is primarily relevant to legacy sealed pipe penetrations and custom wall-penetration projects where a carrier pipe passes through a concrete protective or underground structure.

Typical contexts can include replacement of existing civil-defense penetrations, underground utility structures, equipment rooms, water and drainage penetrations, and projects that require a compressed sealing arrangement around the carrier pipe.

These are application contexts, not blanket performance approvals.

For new civil-defense work, blast, gas-tightness, watertightness and protective-class requirements must follow the current project design and applicable current documentation.

Wall Thickness, Alignment & Cast-In Installation

The legacy 04FS02 source shows a concrete-wall reference thickness of at least 300 mm and a local thickening relationship associated with the D5 dimension.

These values are retained only as legacy W03 identification and replacement references. New civil-defense projects must follow the current approved structural and 07FS02/project detail.

Position and secure the sleeve before the concrete pour so its axis and flange orientation remain correct during casting.

The carrier pipe must be aligned and independently supported. Do not use the sealing assembly to pull a misaligned pipe into position.

After the carrier pipe is installed, the selected sealing element and gland should be assembled according to the approved drawing and tightened progressively and evenly.

Current welding, coating, sealant and installation materials must follow the approved project and current factory documentation rather than automatically reproducing legacy 2004 material notes.

W03 vs. W04 Rigid Sealed Wall Sleeve

W03 and W04 appear together in Mingchao Catalog p37 but are different wall-penetration constructions.

W03 uses the legacy flexible sealed configuration with a sealing ring and flange-gland assembly around the carrier pipe.

W04 is the separate legacy rigid sealed-sleeve product and should not be represented using the W03 sealing construction.

Do not select between the two from DN alone. Use the existing project drawing, the required sealing concept and the current project standard.

W03 vs. W01 02S404 Flexible Waterproof Sleeve

W03 and W01 should not be treated as the same standard product.

W01 follows the current 02S404 Waterproof Sleeves design atlas and uses the 02S404 flexible waterproof-sleeve arrangement.

W03 is a legacy 04FS02 sealed wall-sleeve configuration associated with the abolished 2004 civil-defense atlas.

Both use sealing features around a wall penetration, but their source standards, geometry and project-selection logic are different.
