02S404 Flexible Waterproof Sleeve

Waterproof & Sealed Wall Sleeves

02S404 Flexible Waterproof Sleeve

Mingchao’s 02S404 flexible waterproof sleeve is a cast-in wall-penetration assembly for concrete structures requiring controlled sealing around a passing pipe. The 02S404 arrangement combines a steel sleeve and embedded water-stop/wing-ring geometry with a compressed sealing assembly around the carrier pipe. Type A / Type B configurations and Type I / Type II sealing-ring options are defined in the 02S404 design atlas. Reference sizes cover DN50–DN1000; wall thickness, carrier-pipe outside diameter and sealing requirements should be confirmed for each project.

Project Configuration

Mingchao can customize the product configuration based on the technical information, operating conditions and dimensional data you provide. Final configuration can be reviewed and manufactured to the approved project drawing.

02S404 Flexible Waterproof Sleeve — Product Overview

The 02S404 flexible waterproof sleeve is designed for pipe penetrations through walls and structures where the penetration requires a more controlled sealing arrangement than a plain rigid sleeve.

The assembly uses a sleeve embedded in the concrete wall together with water-stop or wing-ring geometry at the sleeve-to-concrete interface. Around the passing carrier pipe, a sealing ring and gland arrangement closes the annular space between the carrier pipe and the sleeve.

Mingchao supplies this product as an 02S404 flexible waterproof-sleeve configuration. Type A and Type B arrangements are available, with Type I and Type II sealing-ring options defined by the 02S404 design atlas.

Reference dimensions cover DN50–DN1000. Final fabrication should be confirmed from the carrier-pipe outside diameter, wall thickness, required type, waterproofing condition and project drawing.

Two Sealing Interfaces — Concrete Wall & Carrier Pipe

A watertight pipe penetration has two different interfaces that should not be confused.

At the outside of the sleeve, the embedded wing-ring or water-stop geometry interrupts the seepage path along the sleeve-to-concrete boundary.

At the inside of the sleeve, the sealing-ring and gland assembly acts on the annular space around the carrier pipe.

This makes the 02S404 flexible sleeve different from a simple open wall sleeve with only a water-stop plate. The complete penetration still depends on correct concrete placement, carrier-pipe alignment, sealing-ring selection and installation.

Do not interpret this page as a universal hydrostatic-pressure rating. Project water head and waterproofing requirements should be stated in the quotation request.

02S404 Type A and Type B Arrangements

The current 02S404 design atlas includes separate Type A and Type B flexible waterproof-sleeve installation arrangements.

The atlas positions Type A for applications such as pools, tanks or internal-wall penetrations, while Type B is used for external-wall penetrations.

The required type should follow the project design rather than being selected from nominal diameter alone. The Mingchao Catalog p35 provides both arrangement drawings so that the connection and sealing geometry can be checked before quotation.

When the project specification already identifies 02S404 Type A or Type B, include that designation in the RFQ. When it does not, send the penetration detail and wall section for review.

Type I and Type II Sealing-Ring Selection

02S404 identifies Type I and Type II sealing-ring configurations.

The design atlas describes Type I for general waterproofing requirements and Type II for applications requiring a stricter waterproofing arrangement.

The sealing-ring type is only one part of material selection. Actual elastomer compound, temperature capability, chemical compatibility, water-quality requirement and environmental exposure must be confirmed for the project.

Mingchao should therefore not apply one universal rubber grade or operating-temperature rating to every W01 sleeve.

02S404 Reference Dimensions — DN50–DN1000

The table below uses the dimensional relationships from the current 02S404 flexible waterproof-sleeve design atlas.Because the product itself is specified as 02S404, current atlas dimensions take precedence over obvious transcription errors found in the legacy Mingchao printed table.Only the core dimensions that can be reliably mapped are published in this revision. Bolt quantities, legacy weight values and additional grouped dimensions are withheld rather than silently corrected. All dimensions are in millimetres. Final fabrication must be confirmed against the approved project drawing and the actual carrier-pipe outside diameter.Dimension legend:D1 — Applicable carrier / passing-pipe outside diameterD2 — Flexible waterproof sleeve outside diameterD3 — Flange-gland inside diameterD4 — Bolt-circle diameterD5 — Flange outside diameterl — 02S404 reference dimension shown in the flexible-sleeve drawing

Where Flexible Waterproof Sleeves Are Used

02S404 covers civil buildings, general industrial buildings and municipal water-supply and drainage structures.

Flexible waterproof sleeves are particularly relevant where a pipe passes through a concrete wall and the penetration has a strict waterproofing requirement, or where vibration and limited pipe deformation must be considered at the wall interface.

Typical project contexts can include water tanks and pools, basement or external concrete walls, municipal water and wastewater structures, pump-room wall penetrations and industrial structures with water-sensitive penetrations.

These are application contexts, not blanket approvals. Drinking-water use, aggressive groundwater, corrosive media, unusual temperatures and defined hydrostatic heads require project-specific material and documentation review.

Carrier-Pipe OD, Wall Thickness & Waterproofing Selection

Do not select a W01 sleeve from DN alone.

The carrier-pipe outside diameter is a primary dimensional input because the sealing assembly must match the actual pipe passing through the sleeve.

The wall thickness L must also be stated. The 02S404 flexible-sleeve detail uses a reference concrete wall thickness of at least 300 mm. Where the project wall is thicker, sleeve length and fabrication weight must be adjusted to the actual wall.

Also define whether the penetration is an internal wall, pool or tank wall, external wall or another structure; whether Type A or Type B is specified; and whether the project calls for the Type I or Type II sealing arrangement.

For accurate selection, send the carrier-pipe outside diameter, wall thickness, Type A/B requirement, waterproofing condition and the project wall-penetration drawing. If water head, vibration, corrosive exposure or a specific sealing material applies, include those conditions as well.

Flexible vs. Rigid 02S404 Waterproof Sleeve

The flexible and rigid 02S404 sleeves serve different penetration conditions.

The W01 flexible sleeve includes a sealing-ring and gland arrangement around the carrier pipe and is intended for 02S404 applications where stricter waterproofing, vibration or pipe expansion and deformation must be considered.

The W02 rigid waterproof sleeve is a separate product intended for applications where the pipe penetration does not require the same flexible sealing arrangement.

Do not substitute one type for the other from nominal diameter alone. The project drawing and wall-penetration condition should determine the sleeve type.

02S404 Rigid Waterproof Sleeve

02S404 Flexible Sleeve vs. Plain Puddle-Flange Wall Sleeve

International projects often use terms such as wall penetration sleeve, pipe wall sleeve, water-stop sleeve or puddle-flange sleeve.

A plain puddle-flange or water-stop sleeve primarily addresses the water path along the sleeve-to-concrete interface. Some international systems then use a separate modular or press seal around the carrier pipe.

The 02S404 flexible waterproof sleeve uses its own defined sleeve, sealing-ring and gland arrangement around the passing pipe in addition to the embedded wall interface.

These systems can solve related wall-penetration problems, but they should not be treated as dimensionally interchangeable. When a project is specified around a different wall-sleeve or modular-seal system, send that specification rather than converting it automatically to 02S404.

Cast-In Installation in Concrete Walls

The flexible waterproof sleeve should be positioned and secured before the concrete is placed so that its axis, orientation and wall position remain correct during casting.

The 02S404 detail uses a concrete wall thickness of at least 300 mm for the flexible sleeve. Where the existing wall construction is not concrete, the penetration zone should be detailed as a local concrete section and the sleeve cast into that section in accordance with the approved design.

Concrete should be properly placed and compacted around the embedded sleeve and wing-ring area so that voids do not create an uncontrolled seepage path.

Before tightening the sealing assembly, keep the carrier pipe centred and the sealing surfaces clean. Tighten the gland fasteners progressively and symmetrically rather than loading one side first.

Do not use the waterproof sleeve to pull an incorrectly aligned carrier pipe into position.

Pipe Supports, Pumps, Vibration & Deformation

The word “flexible” in 02S404 does not make W01 a piping expansion joint.

The sleeve can be selected for wall penetrations where vibration or pipe expansion and deformation must be considered, but the surrounding piping system still requires proper support and any necessary flexible pipe connection.

Where a wall penetration is close to a pump or other vibrating equipment, the pipe should be supported so that equipment loads are not transferred directly into the wall sleeve.

If the connected piping requires vibration isolation or thermal-movement compensation outside the wall, specify the appropriate rubber expansion joint, flexible connector or other engineered connection separately.

Product Photo, A/B Drawings & Project RFQ

Use the exact Mingchao Catalog p35 W01 product photograph together with the Type A and Type B 02S404 drawings as the primary visual evidence for this product.

For quotation, provide the actual carrier-pipe outside diameter, wall thickness, required Type A or Type B arrangement, Type I or Type II sealing requirement where specified, waterproofing condition and project wall-penetration drawing.

The Mingchao W01 configuration follows the dimensional and installation framework of the current 02S404 Waterproof Sleeves national building standard design atlas.

Seal material and allowable temperature must be confirmed for the actual project.
